Do you have a product that needs Power over Ethernet (PoE) according to IEEE 802.3 standard? PoE is a technology for securely transmitting electrical power together with data communication in Ethernet cables. EK Power Solutions are experts on PoE and have designed several solutions.
The standard versions of PoE specify that Cat 5 cable or better should be used. The electrical energy can be taken from a built-in power converter in a PoE-capable network unit, such as an Ethernet switch, or from a unit designed to supply electrical energy to the Ethernet cable. Such units are referred to as PSE – Power Sourcing Equipment or voltage supply equipment.
The equipment powered is called PD – Powered Device.
The IEEE 802.3 standard is available in several versions:
802.3af can deliver 15.4W. 12.95W minimum available for PD device.
802.3at can deliver 30W. 25.5W minimum available for PD unit. This standard is also called PoE + or PoE Plus.
802.3bt capable of delivering 51W to a PD device. This standard is also called PoE ++.
With Power over Ethernet, your equipment does not need a separate AC / DC adapter and you can save installation costs and wiring.
Our power supplies are used by many customers in a large number of applications.
We’ve found an outstanding partner for power electronics design in EK Power Solutions. No challenge is too great for them, and their services always provide us with added value
